Feature explainer
This page explains the feature. It is not a public parser, scraping portal, or upload form.
Users can paste supported recipe links inside the Family Collab app to help create meals more quickly. Many sites import normally, but some pages are harder to read because they depend on JavaScript, cookies, or anti-bot protections.
When that happens, the app may try a browser-assisted retrieval step before falling back to “add it manually.” That path exists to improve compatibility, not to promise universal support.
For a small set of blocked pages, Family Collab may use a private browser-assisted import path behind the scenes. That path exists only to support the in-app feature and may still fail on some sites.
The renderer is authenticated, rate-limited, and meant for service-to-service use. It is not exposed as an open “fetch any page for me” utility.
The renderer is deliberately scoped as a backend dependency so abuse controls, rate limits, and security boundaries stay narrow. It is not exposed as a user-facing web tool.
Family Collab should enable browser-assisted import only after the renderer has been deployed, authenticated, and manually verified against target sites.
Even after launch, some recipe pages will remain unsupported, and manual meal entry should continue to be a first-class fallback.
